Grade 7 Instruments

Stonepark Grade 7 students are very excited to be allowed to take home their instruments! Here are a few ways you can help support your child as they learn to play:

  • Encourage your child to practice. 15 minutes of practice every second day will help your child become more confident in playing a new instrument
  • Encourage your child to play a song by ear; a song from their favorite band or playlist
  • Encourage your child to look up Youtube videos about how to play the instrument, beginner songs for their instrument, and recordings of professionals playing their instrument.
  • Provide a quiet space where your child can practice free from distractions
  • When you see your child working hard and showing determination, tell them! Always encourage a good work ethic. If your child becomes discouraged, please encourage them to ask for help.

The instruments that have been sent home are property of the Public Schools Branch. If something happens to the instrument (a key or a pad falls off), please ask your child to bring the instrument to Mrs. Sorensen who will send the instrument for repair. Please do not attempt to fix the instrument at home. Minor instrument repairs are paid for through the school. The cost of repairing willful damage to instruments will be paid for by the child’s family.

The students are so proud to show you what they have been learning!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school Stonepark Band students and families! During the last two weeks I have been enjoying making music again with all of the band musicians at Stonepark! A special welcome to the newest members of the band program, our Grade 7 musicians. While this academic year is unlike any other, I am confident the band students will continue to experience the rewards of working together to create memorable music.
