The Grade 9 Band will be presenting a band information session to incoming Grade 6 students this Friday morning, February 21 (during school hours). Grade 9 Band students will be wearing the Stonepark band uniform for this event. Students can bring a change of clothes to wear for the remainder of the school day, if they wish.
A reminder that the $100 downpayment for the Grade 9 band trip is due by (next) Friday, February 21, 2020.
Receipts will be given for cash payments. Cheques can be made payable to Stonepark Intermediate (no post-dated cheques please).
Since today’s early morning band was canceled due to the weather, the Grade 8 band will have a make-up rehearsal on Friday, February 14 at 7:35 am. Today’s rehearsal is being rescheduled in order to further prepare the Grade 8 band’s upcoming performance at PEI Band Days, scheduled for Wednesday, March 4.
The Grade 9 Concert Band will be performing a joint recital with the UPEI Wind Symphony on Thursday, February 27, at 7:30 pm.
Students are to be dropped off at the Steel Recital Hall, (UPEI campus – see the map below) between 6:00 and 6:10 pm. Please use the door closest to the small parking lot – there will be signage inside the building to direct students to the warm-up room.
The recital hall lobby does not provide an adequate space for parents/families to comfortably wait in; you are welcome to get a coffee or run errands before the concert. The concert hall doors will open to the public by 7:10 pm. Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors/students (Stonepark Grade 9 students are not required to pay admission).
All band students are invited to attend the Holland College Welshmen Community Band and PEI Regiment Band pops concert held at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall (Holland College Campus) on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. The concert begins at 7:30 pm. Admission is by donation and please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank. Mrs. Sorensen will meet students at the Florence Simmons Recital Hall at 7:15 pm.
Since most Grade 9 band members are away on the trip this week, there will not be a rehearsal for Grade 9 band on Tuesday, February 3, or Thursday, February 5, 2020.
Grade 8 early morning band will go ahead as scheduled on Wednesday, February 4, 2020.

Band Outing: All Stonepark band members are encouraged to attend the Holland College Welshmen Community Band and PEI Regiment Band pops concert on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:30 pm at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall. Admission is by donation and non-perishable food donations are being accepted for the Upper Room Food Bank. This concert will feature well known (and loved!) pop, rock and funk tunes that will get you dancing in your seat. This concert is not to be missed! Students can meet Mrs. Sorensen at the performance hall at 7:15. Parents are welcome to attend as well!

Grade 9 Band Trip Dates: The Grade 9 band trip will take place on Tuesday, April 21 – Wednesday, April 22 in NS. The band will be participating in the New Glasgow (NS) Music Festival.
Congratulations to the ten participants from Stonepark who were members of the PEI Intermediate Honours Band 2020! The students and junior high band directors from across PEI had an amazing weekend of music-making! Thank you to the Holland College Welshmen Community Band and their director, Christine Blanchard for their performance and thank you to the Honours Band’s amazing guest conductor, Paul Hutten (director of Acadia Wind Band).
All ticket sale money (and any unsold tickets), HB registration fees as well as Emergency Contact forms are to be handed in on Thursday, January 23.
